The Importance of Right Words - Part 4
Psalms 19:14
“14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.”
Every thought of the child of God needs to be acceptable to the LORD. It can be if we will let God examine it. If we will see the importance of not trying to act in an independent way. If we will slow down and humbly submit every thought, every imagination to the Lord for His examination. We do this through faithful reading and study of God’s Word. We can thus know what is pleasing to the Lord and we can please Him with our thoughts.
The LORD is the Christian’s strength.
Deuteronomy 32:31
“31 For their rock is not as our Rock, even our enemies themselves being judges.”
The word “strength” is translated as “rock” a number of times. In the verse above the word Rock is capitalized to signify the LORD as the believer’s rock. God is our Rock. He provides stability. He causes us to prosper and stand strong and true to Him. Without the LORD we cannot stand. This is why we see the New Evangelical groups falling in different directions. They cannot stand against the wiles of the devil. The demand of the ungodly is too strong for them. The rock music crowd have a stronger voice than they do. The sodomites cause them to bow down and give acceptance to their sin. On and on it goes. Those who are saved have a Rock, the LORD who will keep them and guide them.
The LORD is also my “redeemer”. This is the second time that the word “redeemer” is mentioned in the O.T. Other forms of the word are found, but this is the second time that we find the word “redeemer”. The LORD is not only the believers strength, He is also the believers Redeemer. To be redeemed is to be bought back.
Romans 3:23
“23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”
Man is born with a sin nature. He sins because he has a sin nature. God has provided the only means for man to be set free from this sin nature through the blood of His Son Jesus Christ. There is no other way of redemption. We do not need to be bought from the devil as some wrongly suggest. The payment of our sin was made to God. Adam sinned against God. We, the descendants of Adam are born with a sin nature. Only the blood of Jesus Christ can satisfy the righteous demand of a just and holy God. He is the personal redeemer of every born again Christian.
